In your opinion, how would you approach my home’s approach?

Hello Nancy!

Here is my C. 1896 home located in Parkton, Maryland. I am proposing 2 changes to the current drive.

1. Asphalt the straight section of drive (due to the downwards and upwards slope)
2. Gravel the parking/turn around area and shift it to the front of the house in a circular shape (because I like the “crunch”, historical appeal and cost)

Please note:
•I am planning on moving the porch staircase to the center section because I like symmetry
•The large tree in front of the porch will be removed

I would appreciate your opinion!

Thank you

HI!

You have a great place. I think the circle driveway has a nice look with your house. I see some trees lining the straight leg of the driveway, so you may not be up for removing these trees. if the long leg of the driveway could focus on the front of the house instead of to the side, it would be a more impressive entrance. Center the circle on the house as well. Make the part of the circle drive at least 18' wide in front of the house, so two cars can pass one each other. You could also incorporate some pull over parking to left side of the house.
Thanks so much for contacting me. I hope this information helps!
